‘Bangalore ka campaign shuru bhi nahi hua, aur iska khatam bhi hogya’ – Fans react to Kane Williamson getting ruled out of the Indian T20 League 2023
Kane Williamson of Gujarat was recently ruled out of the Indian T20 League 2023 due to a knee injury that he suffered in the tournament’s inaugural match in Ahmedabad against Chennai. He will return home and consult with the appropriate medical professionals to develop a strategy, as per reports from New Zealand Cricket.
Williamson fell awkwardly in his first game for the Titans while trying to grab the boundary whilst fielding, causing his right knee to buckle under his weight.
He had jumped to stop a ball that was being hit by Ruturaj Gaikwad’s bat for six. Williamson was already on the ground hurting his right knee at that moment, but he nevertheless succeeded to save two runs by brushing the ball onto the zone of play prior to it getting bounced on the boundary boards.
Despite getting treatment, he was unable to return to the field, so the franchise replaced him with B Sai Sudharsan as a fielder substitute before switching the two out of the starting lineup in accordance with the updated Impact Player rule. Williamson’s absence from the field following the Indian T20 League is still unknown. However, New Zealand manager Gary Stead termed his injury “a big blow” for both Williamson and the team.
Following the Test series and ODIs, New Zealand is presently playing at home against Sri Lanka before departing for Pakistan over five T20 Internationals and the same number of ODIs. Williamson missed both of those trips because he was playing in the Indian T20 League.
Kane Williamson had been suffering from a persistent elbow injury for the previous two years, and he had just recently completely recovered from it. This injury has surely come at the wrong time and would hamper the form and mood of the player as well.

I think it was unnecessary to take such risk while fielding, One might save very few runs with these efforts but might sustain a long term injury affecting the team's balance and that individual's career. Ofcourse each and every run saved matters but not more than a player.
