‘Ghatkopar 11 ki bowling bhi isse better hai’ – Fans react as Mumbai continue their horrific run in Indian T20 League
Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai continue their losing streak in the Indian T20 League as they lost their season opener against Bangalore on Sunday. In their season opener against Bangalore, Mumbai failed to defend 171 runs at M Chinnaswamy stadium.
Meanwhile, Bangalore opener Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis hammered a magnificent century partnership to thrash five-time champions. Bangalore beat Mumbai by eight wickets as they chased the target in just 16.2 overs.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Bangalore opted to bowl first and the decision went well with the team. Put into bat first, Mumbai didn’t start well as they lost the first four wickets for just 48 runs. Opener, Ishan Kishan scored 10 runs in 13 balls before getting trapped by Mohammed Siraj. Siraj then continued his havoc and didn’t let Mumbai score in the powerplay.
Mumbai batters failed to hold their nerves and threw their wickets away. Skipper Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Camron Green also failed and Mumbai was restricted to 48-4 in eight overs. However, when his team needed it, the young Hyderabad batter Tilak Verma smashed his third half-century in the Indian T20 League.
Nine boundaries and four maximums helped Tilak score an unbeaten 84 runs off 46 balls during his innings. Tilak played with an impressive strike rate of 182.61. All Bangalore bowlers performed well as spinner Karn Sharma clinched two wickets, while others got one wicket each.
Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis toyed with Mumbai bowlers
While chasing 172, Bangalore openers toyed with the inexperienced bowling lineup of Mumbai. Opener Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis added 148 runs for the first wicket to clinch the match from Mumbai. In his magnificent innings, Virat scored unbeaten 82 runs off 49 balls. He smashed six boundaries and five sixes and played with a strike rate of 167.35.
On the other hand, skipper du Plessis also slammed a half-century as he scored 73 runs off 43 balls. He hammered five boundaries and six maximums and batted at a strike rate of 169.77 before getting dismissed by Arshad Khan. In the end, Glenn Maxwell played a blistering knock to end the game.
Meanwhile, fans react to Bangalore’s amazing victory. A Twitter user said, “Ghatkopar 11 ki bowling inse better hai.”
