‘Iss chakar main Babar ka form phir jayega’ – Fans react to Babar Azam’s heartwarming note for Kane Williamson

Babar Azam has quickly honed a unique technique for winning people over. If the Pakistan captain’s deft cover drives weren’t enough, he has a tendency to stand by his teammates during trying times. Babar Azam, who once famously tweeted “this too shall pass” in support of the under-fire Virat Kohli, who was dreadfully out of form, is now endorsing New Zealand ODI captain Kane Williamson.

Williamson is expected to miss the ODI World Cup that will be held in India in October-November of this year due to an injury he sustained while playing in the field during the IPL 2023 season start involving Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings last week in Ahmedabad.

The elegant right-hander took a flight back home after New Zealand Cricket disclosed that scans had revealed Williamson had torn his right knee’s anterior cruciate ligament. He will undergo surgery in the upcoming weeks, and it will take a long time for him to heal, ultimately putting himself out of the 50-over World Cup.

Dasun Shanka, the captain of Sri Lanka, has taken Williamson’s spot among the Gujarat Titans team lineup for the rest of the IPL 2023. Babar Azam posted a touching tweet after realising that 32-year-old Kane Williamson would just lose the chance to captain his team at the World Cup again.  A tweet from Babar included a comment and a picture of the talented New Zealand player.

This isn’t the only occasion when Babar Azam has backed a cricket player from the opposition. When India’s superstar Virat Kohli was struggling mightily with the bat during the England series last year, he tweeted, “This too shall pass, stay strong,” along with a picture of himself and Kohli.

Fans from all over the world praised Babar for his sportsmanship in the tweet, which received a lot of positive feedback. Between April 14 to May 7, Pakistan will play New Zealand in a three-match Twenty20 International series at Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi under the direction of the right-hander. He will be supported by Pakistan’s star speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi, who returned to the team after an extended injury absence.
