MS Dhoni and Sanju Samson do the hard yards at Cheepauk ahead of CSK Vs RR clash in IPL 2023

On Wednesday, April 12, 2023, the four-time champion Chennai Super Kings will lock horns against Rajasthan Royals. In their second match against Lucknow Super Giants, CSK registered their first victory of the year under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

Rajasthan lost to Punjab Kings after winning their first game of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad under the leadership of Sanju Samson. In the 17th game of the IPL 2023, both teams will compete for the two crucial points in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Ahead of the encounter, the skippers of both sides, Dhoni and Samsom were seen batting in the net sessions on Tuesday, April 12 at the ground. Both players are known for hitting big and long hits in the game.

Chennai Super Kings leads head-to-head against Rajasthan Royals

27 games have been played between the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. RR has only been successful in winning 12 games, whereas CSK has won 15 times. During the 2008 IPL, the first game between these two teams was played in Jaipur. In that game, RR defeated CSK by an eight-wicket margin.

The Super Kings lost to the Royals in each of their first three IPL games, including the 2008 final game. Since 2009, they haven’t been able to outperform Chennai, though. In their most recent meeting, RR defeated CSK by five wickets in IPL 2022, in large part to the all-around excellence of Ravichandran Ashwin, who scored 40* runs in 23 balls with the bat and took a wicket for 28 runs with the ball.
