‘Har jagah aise flat pitch nahi milega’ – Twitter reacts after Harry Brook takes dig on Indian fans for trolling him

England batter Harry Brook became the first player to score a century in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. Playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday, Brook remained unbeaten on 100 runs off 55 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in match number 19 of the season.

It was Brook’s innings along with the captain’s knock by Aiden Markram (50 off 26) as SRH posted a mammoth total of 228 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. In reply, KKR were reduced at 204 for 7, losing the game by 23 runs. Brook was awarded player of the match for his maiden IPL century. At the post-match presentation, the English batter mentioned Indian fans who have been trolling for his failures in the first three matches and added that he finally has been able to ‘shut up’ them.

“I was putting pressure on myself a little bit after the first few games. You go on social media and people are calling you rubbish. You start to doubt yourself a little bit. I just went out there with an ‘I don’t care’ mentality tonight and thankfully it came off. There are a lot of Indian fans out there who’ll say ‘well done’ tonight. But they were slagging me off a few days ago. Glad I could shut them up, to be honest,” Brook told Harsha Bhogle at the post-match presentation.

‘I’m happy to bat anywhere’ – Brook

“It was a special night. Thankfully we got over the line as well. Got a little tense in the middle. A lot of people say that opening the batting in T20 is the best time to bat. I’m happy to bat anywhere. I’ve had a lot of success batting at five. Made my name there. My four Test hundreds will have to be over this one. The crowd was phenomenal tonight. I enjoyed it. Great to be playing in such a great stadium in front of so many fans,” the SRH batter further added.

Brook was picked by SRH for INR 13.25 crore in the 2023 auction. However, his performance didn’t justify his form in the first three matches where he got out at the scores of 13, 3, and 13 while batting in the middle order. But he finally get his form after he was promoted as an opener agaisnt KKR and will look to continue his form for the rest of the tournament.
