Riyan Parag, a Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter, received criticism from the crowd on April 16 when he once again struggled against the Gujarat Titans (GT). He only managed five runs during the chase during the 23rd IPL 2023 game played at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. His team didn’t suffer much because RR prevailed by three wickets. 

After losing the toss, Gujarat Titans started the game at the plate. On the strength of their batting unit’s respectable efforts, they scored 177/7. Their leading scorer was David Miller (46) but none of their batters reached the fifty-score mark. At 47/3 in 8.3 overs, Rajasthan Royals immediately found that they were in a precarious position.

At this point, Riyan Parag came to the crease with the opportunity to save face in a trying circumstance while going through a slump in his batting performance. He was unable to take advantage of the situation because he made RR’s situation worse. Before Rashid Khan sent him out in the eleventh over, he faced seven balls and only managed to score five runs.

After experiencing yet another lousy batting performance from Riyan Parag, the crowd was incensed. Through their Twitter responses, the fans from Rajasthan Royals and cricket fans cruelly trolled him. In the 11th over, Shimron Hetmyer entered the fray and quickly put together a 59-run partnership. By hitting three straight sixes against Rashid Khan, Sanju Samson became the aggressor and turned the momentum in RR’s favour. However, he was sent back to the pavilion shortly after turning a beautiful start into a 50. Hetmyer effectively concluded the game for his team by being unbeaten all the way through. 

With that amazing win, Rajasthan Royals avenged last year’s final defeat to Gujarat Titans and moved into the top spot of the Indian Premier League standings. They would be hoping to stay there right till the end and their next task will be Lucknow Super Giants
