‘Kahan gaye golden duck vaale’- Fans can’t keep calm as RCB register 4th win in IPL 2023 after beating RR by 7 runs

Royal Challengers Bangalore register their second consecutive win in IPL 2023 after beating Rajasthan Royals by 7 runs at home ground on Sunday. RCB didn’t start off well with the bat as Trent Boult had Virat Kohli plumped leg-before. Coming in at number three, Shahbaz Ahmed got out one over later as RCB were in all sorts of trouble at 12 for 2 with Trent Boult wreaking havoc at the Chinnaswamy.

However, the arrival of Glenn Maxwell changed things for Virat and Co. Maxwell got going right from the onset of his innings as he smashed the very first ball he faced for a boundary.

Maxwell and Du Plessis counter-attacked and didn’t spare any bowler. They went on to add 127 runs for the second wicket in just 67 balls. Du Plessis continued his fine form as he played a stellar knock of 62 runs in 39 balls before getting out in the 14th over. Soon after, Maxwell too departed after playing a 77-run innings off 44. Royal Challengers Bangalore had amassed 156 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 15 overs and looked set to score 200. However, once again, they failed to finish well and middle-order didn’t step up.

In the last five overs, RCB could only manage to score 33 runs, finishing on 189 runs at the end of the first innings. On a good batting track, it was, certainly, a chasable track but M Siraj made it difficult for Rajasthan as he rattled Jos Buttler’s stumps in the very first over of the innings. Rajasthan Royals sent Padikkal at number three and the decision reaped rewards as well. The southpaw stitched a 98-run stand with Jaiswal and made it easy for the players to come.

However, the wicket of Padikkal hampered Rajasthan’s momentum. The southpaw mistimed one straight into the hands of Kohli and soon after that, Jaiswal too got out to bring RCB back into the game. All the RCB bowlers bowled brilliantly after that picked crucial wickets to deny Rajasthan of closing out the run-chase. Harshal Patel took the important wicket of Samson amidst the run-of-play, while Hetmyer, unfortunately, got run-out.

In the end, 20 runs were required off the final over and Ashwin had hit a 4,2, and 4 to leave the equation down to 10 needed off 3 balls. Harshal foxed Ashwin with a slower ball on the next ball and RCB, ended up winning the game by 7 runs. Here’s a look at how fans reacted to the RCB’s another win:
