‘Our batters are slowing down for personal milestones’ – Former Pakistan chief selector’s shocking allegation on Pakistan senior batters

Pakistan’s former chief selector, Mohammad Wasim, has expressed his concern regarding the primary batters’ priorities, stating that they tend to focus more on personal milestones and playing for their World rankings rather than the team’s success. Wasim believes that this approach has led to the team’s defeat in matches over the last five years.

“Since the past five years, if you look at the stats from 40 to 50 runs and then from 90 to 100 runs, our main batters are slowing down for personal milestones leaving behind the team, and that has cost us matches,” he said.

However, Wasim remains optimistic about the team’s ability to adapt to changing circumstances. He cited the recent ODI series against Australia as an example, where the team’s batters elevated their strike rates from 70 to 100, resulting in a hard-earned victory.

“Success in cricket often depends on adapting to changing circumstances. In the previous ODI series against Australia, Pakistan’s batters demonstrated this by elevating their strike rates from 70 to 100, resulting in a hard-earned victory,” he said.

Nevertheless, Wasim is cautious about whether the team will continue with the same technique in the upcoming series, as he believes that the ICC rankings are still a significant factor in the batters’ approach to the game.

Things wouldn’t change – Wasim

“As we look ahead to the upcoming series, it remains to be seen whether they will continue with the same technique. One thing is certain, however, until the World rankings remain in the equation, things wouldn’t change,” he concluded.

Wasim’s concerns regarding the team’s approach are valid, as cricket is a team sport, and individual milestones should never come at the cost of the team’s success. However, achieving personal milestones is also important for a player’s career, and it is up to the team management to find the right balance between the two.

Pakistan will need to address these concerns and find the right balance to succeed in the upcoming series. The team’s batters will need to focus on the team’s success while also striving to achieve their personal milestones. If they can strike the right balance, Pakistan has a good chance of winning the series.
