‘Aisehi IPL 2022 champions nahi hain’- Twitter over the moon as GT chase down 179 against KKR to go top of the IPL 2023 table
In the 39th match of IPL 2023, the clash between GT and KKR was highly anticipated one, and it didn’t disappoint. KKR won the toss and decided to bat first, putting up a decent score of 179/7. The highlight of the innings was the scintillating batting display by Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who smashed 81 off 39 balls. Andre Russell also contributed 34 off 19 balls, ensuring KKR put up a respectable total.
The GT bowlers did a decent job, with Mohammed Shami being the highest wicket-taker, taking three wickets. Noor Ahmed and Joshua Little also chipped in with two wickets each. The GT team would have been reasonably happy with their performance, considering they restricted KKR to under 180.
Chasing the target of 180, GT lost their opener Wriddhiman Saha early. However, Shubman Gill anchored the innings and kept the scoreboard ticking with his well-crafted 49 off 35 balls. Hardik Pandya also played a crucial knock, scoring 26 off 20 balls, but he couldn’t stay long enough to take GT over the finish line.
It was Vijay Shankar who took charge and played an absolute blinder to get GT over the line. He smashed 51 off just 24 balls, including 2 fours and 5 sixes. His innings was the highlight of the chase, and it ensured GT won the match by 7 wickets with 6 balls to spare.
The GT team would be ecstatic with their performance as they move to the top of the table with 12 points in 8 matches. Their bowlers did well to restrict KKR to a manageable total, and their batsmen chased down the target with ease. Shankar’s innings was the icing on the cake and would give the team a lot of confidence going forward.
On the other hand, KKR will be disappointed with the result, as they remain in 7th place with just 6 points in 9 matches. They will have to work on their bowling and fielding, which have let them down on numerous occasions this season.
It was an entertaining match, with some fantastic performances from both teams. GT would be delighted with the win, while KKR will have to regroup and come back stronger in their next match.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to GT’s win against KKR:

What sets the Gujarat Titans apart is the exceptional team dynamic they have developed. Every player has a defined role and is stepping up to the occasion when needed. This is unlike many other teams that rely heavily on just a few star players. Back to back IPL titles, maybe?
