‘If they want to make world headlines…’ – Ramiz Raja on Pakistan Vs England Test series
Pakistan Cricket Board chairman opines that his national team has to make “world headlines” if they are able to defeat the England side in the three-match test series at home. While talking to the reporters at the Gaddafi stadium after the completion of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final on Tuesday, he also made it clear that he has not given up on the idea of having drop-in pitches on Pakistan’s soil.
The former Pakistan player also said that this Pakistan side is capable of beating the English side but a lot will depend on the sort of pitches that both teams will get in this series.
“I have given just one message to the players that if they want to make world headlines they have to beat England in the series,” Ramiz said.
“When Australia came earlier this year the pitches were freshly laid so they played differently but now they have settled down quite a bit and we are expecting more sporting tracks against England,” he said.
England star player to donate his match fees
The PCB chief told that hosting Australia, England, and New Zealand in one season is a big boost for Pakistan’s cricket and he has hoped that the England tour should conclude successfully.
Ramiz said he was happy to see the English player’s reactions as they landed in Pakistan after 17 years. James Anderson was the only player who was part of the English side when they last toured Pakistan for a Test series back in 2005, but he did not participated in the series.
James Anderson is the only one who visited Pakistan last time when the English side toured Pakistan back in 2005, where he played two red ball tour games but did not participate in the three-match Test series against Pakistan.
Stokes tweeted on Monday, November 28, that he will donate his entire match fees from the upcoming Test series to the flood victims in Pakistan. The 20-20 World Cup winner also shared a long note to show solidarity with flood victims on the microblogging site.
