‘Kis baat ka ghamand hai iss franchise main’ – Fans react to LSG’s cheeky dig at SRH over controversial no-ball call

After a controversial no-ball incident during the Indian Premier League (IPL) clash on Saturday in Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on social media poked fun at Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with a mocking tweet. Avesh Khan threw a full toss towards Abdul Samad in the last over of the SRH’s innings, and the batter managed to obtain a single.

However, the on-field umpire called it a no-ball, and LSG requested a review, which was successful. The third umpire’s judgement astounded Samad and Klaasen, his batting partner. Klaasen said that he disagreed with the umpire’s decision, saying, “Hopefully the umpires stay consistent. Not great umpiring either.”

The Lucknow-based team cited a scene from Hyderabad’s most recent game versus Rajasthan Royals, in which a no-ball by Sandeep Sharma during the game’s penultimate ball gave Hyderabad the advantage. Interestingly enough, Samad was also on strike at the time he smashed the six off the free-hit ball to give Hyderabad the victory.

Before Heinrich Klaasen with Abdul Samad led Sunrisers Hyderabad to an exceptionally respectable 182 for 6 versus Lucknow Super Giants during their IPL match on Saturday, Krunal Pandya bowled a pair of back-to-back excellent deliveries.

LSG captain Krunal took two crucial wickets 2 in his 4 overs. He delivered two similar traditional left-arm orthodox deliveries that had enough drift and turn to trick Sunrisers captain Aiden Markram to score an important 28 from 20 balls as well as Glenn Phillips, who had a lot of burden to take the side’s innings forward. In this crucial match, Klaasen batted brilliantly for Hyderabad, scoring 47 runs off only 29 balls, including three sixes and three fours. After cutting past Markram’s outside edge and turning sharply, Krunal stumped him. He then put Phillips on the back foot by destroying his off-stump.

In the 16th over, Samad helped Klaasen keep Hyderabad’s momentum going by smashing Yash Thakur past mid-off and Krunal over long-on for a pair of sixes. Klaasen continued to lead Hyderabad’s assault by drawing two short balls off Mishra for sixes over mid-wicket. Samad then pulled off Thakur for four as well as scored four more by hitting Avesh high over long-on. On the final delivery of the 19th over, Klaasen holed out to long-on after scoring a four from Avesh with a top-edged pull. In the penultimate over, Samad lofted Thakur beyond long-on for six runs to push Hyderabad over 180.
