Punjab Kings defeated Delhi Capitals by 31 runs in the IPL 2023 on Saturday, with Harpreet Brar taking four wickets and Prabhsimran Singh striking a century. Prabhsimran struck 103 runs from 65 balls for his first IPL century, clubbing 10 boundaries as well as six sixes.

According to former India opener Virender Sehwag, Punjab Kings, last night’s victory may have been the first victory for Punjab Kings that was attributable to Punjabis. After the match, Sehwag told Cricbuzz that this was the first time that PBKS had triumphed thanks to Punjabis. Sehwag said, “Prabhsimran struck 103 runs from 65 balls for his first IPL century, clubbing 10 boundaries as well as six sixes.”

The former World Cup winner was high on praise about Harpreet Brar’s performance yesterday. He spoke about how he made a terrific comeback after a poor first over and compared some deliveries of his to a spin legend. He said, “Brar was incredible. To bowl an over in the Powerplay and being hit for runs, the way he made a comeback in wonderful fashion. The ball that got Manish Pandey was like Shane Warne’s ball of the century. The ball that sent Warner packing was also good, Riley Rossouw played a bad shot. But overall, it was very intelligent bowling from Brar.”

Sehwag criticised DC’s weak batting performance and added that their ability to win the game was compromised by a string of consecutive wicket losses. To change the course of the game, PBKS spinners Brar, as well as Rahul Chahar, took six wickets during the middle overs. Sehwag said, “When those four wickets fell, the match slipped away from DC’s hand. It was a poor batting display from DC. If the DC batters had shown patience, because the runs were there, the result could’ve been different.”

Following their victory at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, PBKS is going to get ready for their upcoming match against DC, which will take place on May 17 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.
