Watch: Suryakumar Yadav pranks Tilak Varma, MI’s video goes viral
Mumbai Indians (MI) star batter Suryakumar Yadav pulled off a hilarious prank on his teammate Tilak Varma while he was asleep on a flight after MI’s victory against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2023 Eliminator. The five-time champions thrashed LSG by 81 runs at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday.
MI took to their Twitter handle to share the funny moment between the two players on a flight where Suryakumar disturbed Tilak Varma’s sleep with an amusing prank. In the video, Suryakumar can be seen asking for a lemon from the air hostess. After that, he squeezed the lemon on a sleeping Varma. The 20-year-old suddenly woke up from his sleep and had no idea what happened to him, which burst out laughter among the rest of the team. MI shared the video with the caption, “Chain se sona hai toh jaag jao.”

Talking about the match, batting first in the Eliminator, MI posted a total of 182 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Cameron Green turned out to be the top scorer of the match as he got out after scoring 41 runs off 2 balls. Defending the total, Akash Madhwal bowled a deadly spell as LSG were bowled out for just 101 runs in 16.3 overs. The 29-year-old scalped 5 wickets by conceding just 5 runs in 3.3 overs.
‘People did not expect us to do certain things but…’ – Rohit Sharma
MI skipper Rohit Sharma applauded his teammates after the match for putting up a brilliant effort to register a famous victory. He also heaped praise on Madhwal for his splendid bowling that destroyed LSG’s batting lineup.
“People did not expect us to do certain things but we’ve come out of all obstacles and managed our way through to get what we wanted. At the start of the season we knew that we had a lot of work to do compared to what happened in the last season,” Rohit said at the post-match presentation.
“He (Madhwal) was part of the season last year as a support bowler and we drafted him into the squad. He didn’t play but we knew what he had. Once Jofra was gone we knew we needed someone to bowl at the back end. Having seen enough of him I knew he had the skill set to get the job done. Good attitude and character and that’s what is needed,” he further added.
