‘Thala ne bola hai sb final se phle kr lo’ – Fans react as Ambati Rayudu announces retirement from IPL after today’s final against Gujarat Titans

Ahead of the Indian Premier League 2023 finals between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, CSK batter Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement from the IPL. In a recent social media post, Raydu informed his fans that the final game will be his last match in the cash-rich league. Ahead of the summit clash between GT and CSK, Rayudu recalled all his time in the league.

He pens down an emotional post and said no U-turn. He wrote, “2 great teams MI and CSK,204 matches,14 seasons,11 playoffs,8 finals,5 trophies. hopefully 6th tonight. It’s been quite a journey. I have decided that tonight’s final is going to be my last game in the Ipl. I truly enjoyed playing in this great tournament. Thank u all. No, u-turn.”

Notably, Rayudu has been phenomenal throughout his career and has been a game-changer for both Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. He won IPL with both teams and has been one of those players who played for the two most successful franchises. In his IPL career, he has scored 4329 runs at an average of 28.29 in 203 IPL matches. He has scored a century too with a great strike rate of 127.29.

“No U-turn”, Says Ambati Rayudu after making a comeback in 2019

Notably, this is not the first time when Rayudu announced his retirement in an absurd manner. After not getting selected for the 2019 50-over World Cup, Raydu announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. However, he later reversed his decision and came back to play IPL. His final international numbers were 1694 runs in 55 ODIs at an average of 47.05, including three centuries.

It’s worth noting that last year also Rayudu announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League. He wrote on Twitter, “I am happy to announce that this will be my last IPL. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and CSK for the wonderful journey.” However, later he deleted that tweet and participated in the tournament for CSK.
