‘Aaj jaldi out hoke so jana’ – Fans react as Marnus Labuschagne explains why he slept during second innings of WTC 2023 final
Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne was seen napping during the third innings on Day 3 of the ongoing World Test Championship final against India at the Kennington Oval, London. However, his nap was interrupted as soon as Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj removed opener, David Warner, in the fourth over of Australia’s second innings.
The video went viral on social media where Labuschagne was caught on camera taking a brief nap while Australian batters were taking charge in their second innings. However, he received a wake-up call as soon as the first wicket was gone and now it was his turn to go out in the middle with the bat.
However, after the end of Day 3, Labuschagne revealed that he just decided to rest his eyes between the balls adding that it is not possible to watch the game the entire time. He also said that he didn’t got many rests when Siraj gave India a first breakthrough.
“I was just resting my eyes between balls and just relaxing. I was trying to calm my nerves a little bit, you can’t watch the game all the time, I got up there and was awake pretty soon.I didn’t have too many rests there when Siraj banged that first one in,” Labuschagne told SEN Cricket.
The commentators were also left in splits watching the replay of the incident when Labuschagne took the guards after the wicket was fallen. “Marnus Labuschagne at No.3, that is one of the more extraordinary arrivals to the crease that you will see. Are you awake, Marnus? Have you brushed your teeth? Have you had a coffee?” said Harsha Bhogle during his commentary stint.

I am okay if Indian batters are in deep sleep in dressing room and super active on the field like labuschagne. He is junior Smith. I am more worried about Smith and his junior than other batters.
