ODI World Cup 2023
‘There is a strong chance that the top four….’ – Aakash Chopra feels current top four in ODI World Cup 2023 points table will retain their place until end
The five-time world champions Australia have marked their great comeback in the ODI World Cup 2023 owing to their flabbergasting performances. Notably, Pat Cummins and Co. have strongly placed their eyes on the semifinal spot after defeating the Netherlands by a massive margin on October 25 in their fifth game of the marquee event at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi.
Meanwhile, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra heaped praise on the Aussies for winning the game against the Dutch team by 309 runs. The iconic cricket commentator feels Australia is back on track despite suffering tough defeats against hosts India and South Africa in their first two clashes. Notably, they had thrashed Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and the Netherlands to fix their spot at number four in the points table. In addition, the former India opener feels the Australia vs. Netherlands game was a one-sided affair owing to their phenomenal performances in batting and bowling.
“Who defeats the opposition by 309 runs in an ODI game? It seems like Australia are back on track. They defeated Pakistan, Sri Lanka before that and the Netherlands now. The defeats they suffered against India and South Africa in their first two games, those wounds have been healed slightly. It was a one-sided game once 399 runs were scored,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

The Mumbai-born cricketer reiterated that the other six teams might get scared as the five-time world champions are back to seal their place in the semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023. Moreover, the great cricket analyst feels that it may be possible that the top four will remain the same as currently, and there may be a few changes from the fifth to eighth spots in the points table.
“The other teams might start getting slightly scared of Australia now. There is a strong chance that the top four remain like this only. Changes might happen from fifth to eighth but there might be no change at all in the top four,” he added further.
