Australia’s star cricketer Aaron Finch announced his retirement from the Big Bash League (BBL), and he is all set to end his T20I career on a high note. The former Aussie captain has been playing for the Melbourne Renegades since BBL 2011–12. In addition, the top-order batter has played 103 T20I games while amassing 3120 runs in his cricket career, with a top score of 172.

The opening batter reveals that he loved every bit of BBL and he cannot forget the time when he led his side to win the title. In addition, the stylish right-handed batter says that Renegades has been a huge part of his life. Meanwhile, the 37-year-old cricketer thanked his family members, coaches, and friends for their support throughout his BBL journey.

“There’ve been some real lows but great highs [too], and I’ve loved every bit of the journey. No moment can compare to winning this BBL title. That, for me, was very special, and something I’ll remember. I’m proud to have played at one club for the entirety of my career. The Renegades have been a huge part of my life, and I’m so grateful for everything they’ve given me. To everyone who’s been part of the journey with me – our members, fans, supporters, my team-mates and all who have had a part to play at the club at all levels – thank you,” Aaron Finch said being quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

Aaron Finch has been an outstanding servant and leader with the Renegades: David Saker

Meanwhile, Melbourne Renegades head coach David Saker has also opened up about his emotions after Finch announced his retirement. The coach believes that the Australian star has always been an outstanding player and a great leader for the franchise, and he will be missed.

“Finchy has been an outstanding servant and leader with the Renegades; it’s such a rare feat in the Big Bash to spend your career at the one club. Everything successful with the Renegades, Finch has had everything to do with it,” David Saker said.
