‘Aisa immediate nahi soche hain, but sochenge’- Fans react to Rohit Sharma’s memory lapse during toss for India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI

India’s captain Rohit Sharma had a moment of forgetfulness during the second ODI against New Zealand. After winning the toss, Sharma was asked by the umpire what his team’s decision was for the match. However, Sharma seemed to have forgotten what to choose and stood there for a few seconds before finally deciding to field first.

While Sharma tried to remember their plan for the match, New Zealand captain Tom Latham stood there with a smile on his face. Even Indian players who were practising behind the Indian captain seemed to look at the incident smiling and confused. This moment of confusion caused some concern among fans and cricket analysts, as Sharma is known for his quick thinking and strategic decision-making on the field. However, it is important to note that this was just a brief moment of forgetfulness and it did not have a significant impact on the match.

The Indian cricket team had a strong performance in the first ODI against New Zealand, where they scored 349 runs and then successfully restricted the Black Caps to 337 runs. The win in the first ODI was a confidence booster for the team, and it was clear that they were determined to continue their winning streak in the second match.

Overall, while Sharma’s moment of forgetfulness may have caused some concern among fans, it ultimately had no impact on the start of the match as Indian bowlers steamrolled the New Zealand top-order batting. Mohammad Shami dismissed Fin Allen in the very first over and Mohammed Siraj sent Henry Nicholls packing with a peach of a delivery next. Shami was at it again in the 7th over as he caught and bowled Daryl Mitchell subjecting Kiwis to a poor scoreline of 9/3. Hardik Pandya then brought the Kiwi’s batting to their knees as he dismissed Devon Conway at the team score of just 15 runs. At the time of writing, New Zealand languished at 20/5 proving that Sharma’s decision albeit a little slow was still the good one.

A rare moment like this wasn’t to be easily forgotten by the fans. Soon after the incident, clips of the incident as well as reactions to it started doing the rounds of the internet.
