‘Akash ki koi limit nhi hoti bhai’ – Fans react as Akash Madhwal’s 5-fer helps MI beat LSG by 81 runs in IPL 2023 Eliminator

In the eliminator game of Indian Premier League 2023, Mumbai Indians beat Lucknow Super Giants by 81 runs at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. Akash Madhwal proved to be the best bowler for MI as he clinched five wickets and derailed LSG’s run chase.

Earlier, after winning the toss, MI skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bat first. His decision didn’t go well with the team as the five-time champion lost both openers within powerplay. Skipper Rohit scored 11 runs off 10 balls with the help of a boundary and a six. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan scored 15 runs off 12 balls with the help of three boundaries.

After their dismissal, Camron Green, along with Suryakumar Yadav, added 66 runs for the third wicket. Suryakumar, in his innings, scored 33 runs off 20 balls with the help of two boundaries and as many sixes. On the other hand, Green, in his innings, scored 41 runs off 23 balls with the help of six boundaries and a six. Both were dismissed by Naveen-Ul-Haq in the same over.

In the end, with the help of a cameo from Impact player Nehal Wadhera, Mumbai posted a competitive total of 182/8 in 20 overs. Wadhera, in his innings, scored 23 runs off 12 balls with the help of two boundaries and two sixes. Naveen was the best bowler for LSG as he clinched four wickets while Yash Thakur got three wickets.

LSG crumbled in Pressure while chasing 183

Chasing a massive total on a slow pitch, LSG didn’t get the start they needed. They lost both openers within four overs as Akash Madhwal and Chris Jordan gave Mumbai much-needed breakthroughs. After Mayers’ dismissal, Marcus Stoinis and Krunal Pandya added 46 runs for the third wicket. This was the biggest partnership of LSG’s innings.

Krunal, in his innings, scored 8 runs off 11 balls, while Stoinis scored 40 runs off 27 balls with the help of five boundaries and a six. After their departure, LSG batters crumbled against the pressure and threw away their wickets. In the end, things went worse for LSG as three batters were dismissed due to a lack of communication. However, LSG fell short of the target as they lost the game by runs. For MI, Akash Madhwal proved to be the best bowler as he clinched five wickets.
