Alastair Cook apologizes for bizarre claims on Alex Carey’s ‘Free Haircut’

Alastair Cook apologizes for bizarre claims on Alex Carey’s ‘Free Haircut’

Former England skipper Alastair Cook got himself involved in a conflict during the ongoing Ashes 2023 series. Notably, Australia’s wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey also finds himself at the centre of debate since it has been alleged that the 31-year-old Australia cricketer did not pay a barber in Leeds for his new haircut. The Former England cricketer turned commentator alleged at the BBC’s Test match special that the stylish left-handed batter Carey, who got a new haircut from the barber, promised to pay him through transfer, but the star batter refused to do so.

“The barber says the Australians had been in. He didn’t know his cricket very well, so he was telling me what they looked like. He says, ‘One of them, I think Alex is his name’. I said, Alex Carey wicketkeeper?’ He says, ‘He hasn’t paid’. It was one of those cash-only barbers, and he promised him he would do a transfer later on in the day. True story. He might have paid by now,” Cook said on BBC quoted by the Indian Express.

Carey has not had a haircut since we were in London: Smith

The former top-order England cricketer has recently apologized to Alex Carey after circulating false claims about his haircut. He expressed his apology while speaking on the BBC Test Match Special. “There’s also been a bit of fuss around on a rainy day, a bit of news about a haircut which might have been discussed on radio the other day,” he apologised for the misunderstanding he had with Australian star batter.

Cricket Australia (CA) and former Australia skipper Steve Smith destroyed this rumour and further stated that the Australia star batter Alex Carey hasn’t had his hair cut or gone to a barber after the World Test Championship final a month ago in London. “Carey has not had a haircut since we were in London. Get your facts right,” Australian vice-captain Steve Smith posted on social media.
