‘Albie Morkel smiling from the corner’ – Fans react hilariously as Virat Kohli says RR would have been bowled out for 40 had he bowled

Royal Challengers Bangalore registered a big victory over Rajasthan Royals by 112 runs to keep their campaign alive in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. After posting 171 for 5, RCB did a tremendous job with the balls as they bowled out RR for just 59 runs in 10.3 overs. With this win, RCB jumped to the fifth position points table with six wins from 12 matches.

After the match, RCB posted a video on their official social media account where the players were seen celebrating the win in the dressing room where the batter Virat Kohli made a hilarious statement. Kohli said that RR would have been bowled out for 40 runs if he got a chance to bowl. He said, โ€œIf I had bowled, they would have for all out for 40.โ€

Although Kohli said this jokingly, fans have been trolling him on social media by reminding him of RCBโ€™s match with CSK in IPL 2012 where Albie Morkel smashed him for 28 runs in the penultimate over of the match. RCB went on to lose the game in the last after having control of most of the match for 18 overs.

RCB registered a big win over RR

Talking about yesterday’s game, RCB won the toss and elected to field first in match number 60 of IPL 2023 at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. Skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli put up a 50-run partnership for the opening wicket in seven overs. Kohli lost his wicket to KM Asif after scoring 18 runs off 19 balls.

After that, Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell again took charge of RCBโ€™s innings as they both added 69 runs for the second wicket. Du Plessis got out after scoring 55 runs off 44 balls with three fours and two sixes. After his wicket, RCB lost momentum as Adam Zampa struck twice in the 16th over by sending Mahipal Lomror and Dinesh Karthik back to the pavilion.

An over later, Maxwell also lost his wicket to Sandeep Sharma after scoring 54 runs off 33 balls hitting five fours and three sixes. After that, Anuj Rawat took charge in the last couple of overs and remained unbeaten after smashing 29 runs off just 11 balls with three fours and two sixes as RCB crossed 170 runs.

Chasing the winning total, RR had a disastrous start as they lost both their openers for duck under two overs. In-form batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed in the very first over by Mohammed Siraj after playing just two deliveries. In the next over, Wayne Parnell sent Jos Buttler back to the pavilion. However, Shimron Hetmyer tried hard to take his team down the line by scoring 35 runs off 19 balls but no support from the other as RR were bowled out under 11 overs.
