‘She’s going to be a great asset to our side’ – Alyssa Healy backs Alana King to play significant role in upcoming tour of India after her sparkling return
The Australian women’s team will be locking horns against the Indian women’s team in December 2023 for the multi-format game. According to reports, Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium will host the one-off Test match and three matches of the ODI series, whereas Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium will host the T20I series. Meanwhile, Australia’s great star Alyssa Healy has backed Alana King to perform well against India after she returned with her career-best figure in the ODI series against the West Indies.
Australia’s captain, Alyssa Healy, feels the great all-rounder will be a handful for their side after her great stint in the BBL as well as in every format of the game. The 33-year-old cricketer feels leg-spinner Alana King will be a great asset for her side if she gets selected for the India tour. In addition, the right-handed batter has lauded her spin bowling.
“She gets a lot of batters lbw, especially in Big Bash cricket, so she’s a proper handful for us. Pink ball, white ball, red ball – it doesn’t really matter. She’s going to be a great asset to our side, so hopefully she can maintain that and keep sticking her hand up for selection. Her speed through the air at the moment and her control with her spin and her length has been impressive right throughout the week,” Australia captain Alyssa Healy said.

The wicketkeeper batter feels the 27-year-old has a lot of energy and passion to play the game. The Queensland-born cricketer expressed her happiness after King got her best ODI figures against the West Indies.
“It was actually really easy throwing her the ball as the first spinning option knowing that she was going to get the job done. I’m pumped to see her back out here for Australia, and the passion and the energy that she brings is great for our group. It was nice to see her get rewarded,” she added further.
