Alyssa Healy tackles pitch invader during UP Warriorz vs Mumbai Indians clash in WPL 2024
Australia’s star cricketer Alyssa Healy was seen tackling a pitch invader during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 game between the UP Warriorz (UP-W) and the Mumbai Indians (MI-W) on Wednesday, February 28, at the M Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium in Bengaluru.
A fan rushed onto the pitch, ignoring the venue’s rigorous safety protocols. However, the star-opening batter was then seen attempting to stop him from interfering with the action. The top-order batter did the best she could to maintain order in the match while decked out in her wicketkeeping kit.
Meanwhile, speaking about the game here, UP Warriorz won the sixth game of the WPL 2024 as they went on to defeat the defending champion Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets on February 28. Notably, the Mumbai Indians piled up 161/6 in the given 20 overs. However, UP Warriorz chased down the total with 21 balls to spare.
The girls bounced back after a disappointing last night: Alyssa Healy
UP Warriorz skipper Alyssa Healy opens up after her side went on to win the crucial game. The 33-year-old cricketer was over the moon after defeating the top team, the Mumbai Indians, in the game. In addition, the wicketkeeper batter was extremely proud of the girls, which made them win the first game of this tournament. The Queensland-born cricketer also talks about the pragmatic skills and approach they used to win the game.
“Over the moon to get ourselves on the board, to beat a quality side like Mumbai. The girls bounced back after a disappointing last night. Apparently Kiran went to the boss last night and asked if she can open, she wants to open. But the batters got the job done, the bowlers have been keeping us in the game. It’s one-dimensional but they all have different styles, we have got seam on the bench if need be. Proud of the girls they came back hard, good to get on the board but still a lot of work to do,” Alyssa Healy said after the win.
