Apex Cricket Board reveals Men’s ODI Team of the Year for 2023
Apex Cricket Council Men’s ODI Team of the Year for 2023 is led by Rohit Shamra after he had a good World Cup 2023 campaign. Six Indian players have dominated in Apex Cricket Council Men’s ODI Team of the Year for 2023. Rohit had an impressive year with the bat as he smashed 1255 runs with an average of 52. In World Cup 2023, Rohit Sharma scored his highest 131 runs against Afghanistan in Delhi at The Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium.
Another Indian batter Virat Kohli is also a part of this team. Virat performance over the year is sensational as he has smashed 1377 runs including six centuries. World Cup 2023 saw Virat breaking the record of Sachin Tendulkar for most international centuries. Virat also bagged the Player of the Tournament award.
Indian rising star Shubman Gill who scored 1545 runs in 2023 is also part of a team. While World Cup 2023 final hero Travis Head is also a part of this team. In the final, he scored 137 runs against India and helped the mighty Aussies to lift the World Cup. He performed on the greatest stage when it needed the most. New Zealand’s batter Daryl Mitchell is also on the list as he has smashed five ODI World Cup centuries including one in the Semi-final against India at Wankhade in Mumbai.
Six out of 11 in the squad are Indian players
South African Heinrich Klaasen is named as wicket-keeper for the Apex Cricket Council Men’s ODI Team of the Year 2023. He had put in a solid performance with the bat for South Africa. Another South African in this team is Marco Jasen. His performance with both bat and ball is quite outstanding.
Adam Zampa of Australia along with Kuldeep Yadav of India are part of this team. Zampa has got three four-wicket hauls in the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign for Australia. Zampa was also second second-highest wicket-taker in the World Cup. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav got 49 ODI wickets under his name. Kuldeep’s best bowling figure 5/25 came against India’s arch-rival Pakistan in Asia Cup.
The Pace duo of Apex Cricket Council Men’s ODI Team of the Year for 2023 consists of India’s fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami. Mohammed Siraj got 44 ODI wickets during 2023. His career-best bowling figure of 6/21 came against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup Final 2023. Mohammed Shami got to play in India’s World Cup playing XI after Hardik Pandya got injured against Bangladesh. Shami bagged his career-best bowling figures 7/57 against New Zealand in ODI World Cup 2023 Semi-final at Wankhade in Mumbai. Later Shami ended as the highest wicket-taker in the ODI World Cup 2023.
