‘Arey Dada, Virat Kohli khali field par aggressive hai’ – Fans react to Sourav Ganguly getting Z security

The Press Trust of India reported the news and the statement from the West Bengal Government official spoke about the increase in the security levels for the former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly. The statement said, “As the security cover of the VVIP expired, a review was done as per the protocol and it was decided to raise Ganguly’s security cordon to Z category. As per the new security arrangement, the former cricketer will have 8 to 10 police personnel guarding him.”

The West Bengal government consented to elevate Sourav Ganguly’s security protection to Z category. Following the cricketer’s prior Y category security’s tenure expiration, a decision was made on May 16. According to the updated safety cover category, Ganguly would now have 8 to 10 police officers guarding him at all times.

Previously, Sourav Ganguly received three police officers with the special branch plus an equal number of law enforcement officers to secure his Behala residence. The state secretariat’s representatives visited Sourav Ganguly’s Behala offices on Tuesday. There was a meeting attended by concerned officers from the local police station and the Lalbazar Police Headquarters in Kolkata.

Sourav Ganguly who is the director of the Delhi Capitals for the Indian Premier League season 2023 will get the additional security after his departure from the Delhi Capitals camp. The official added that, “Ganguly is currently travelling with his team Delhi Daredevils and will return to Kolkata on May 21. He will start getting Z category security from that very day.”

Who else has the access to Z security in the state of West Bengal?

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, C V Ananda Bose, the national secretary of the Trinamool Congress, Abhishek Banerjee, and others are given Z Plus protection, whereas ministers like Firhad Hakim as well as Moloy Ghatak are given Z category security. Sukanta Majumdar, the president of the BJP in West Bengal, too has CISF and Z Plus security protection.
