‘Arey yaar phir se nahi’ – Fans react as ‘Weatherman’ reports latest update from ‘The Oval’ ahead of the WTC finals

Ahead of the World Test Championship finals between India and Australia, everyone is looking for the latest updates from the Oval. The weather forecast in London is set to play a significant role in the meeting. In June, the Oval will host a Test match for the first time. Meanwhile, star wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has revealed the first look at the ground on the D-Day.

According to the ‘weatherman’ Karthik, greyish clouds can be seen over the ground and the pitch looks dry with a bit of Grass. Notably, the weather forecast for the upcoming five days is from partially cloudy from day 1 to small thunderstorms on day 5. The total chance of rain on Day 4 is 68%, increasing to 77% on Day 5. While Monday is designated as a reserve day, the weather forecast predicts an 80% likelihood of rain in the morning and a 63% chance of rain in the evening.

Notably, this is India’s second consecutive finals of the World Test Championship. In the inaugural cycle, New Zealand beat India by 8 wickets on reserve day as 1st day of the game was washed out due to heavy rainfall. India will be missing their key players including Rishabh Pant, pacer Jasprit Bumrah and batter KL Rahul. They have played a pivotal role in India’s journey in this finals.

‘Leave out Ashwin’, Dinesh Karthik’s advice to ICT

Ahead of the finals, there were speculations around India’s playing xi as conditions don’t favour both spinners while their dominance backs them. On this issue, Dinesh Karthik came up with a suggestion and asked the Indian team to drop Ashwin and play Umesh Yadav. He said, “Leave out Ashwin and play four pacers. I enjoyed Ashwin bowling in Southampton, but – is the coach gonna do the same thing again? I doubt it. Umesh Yadav has bowled well in the nets. He is looking sharp, and feeling good body-wise. I have a strong feeling they’ll go with Umesh.”

He further spoke about Virat Kohli’s form and said, “He [Virat Kohli] batted well right from the start. In the first game, he got a 70 against Mumbai Indians. He was looking top-notch, and right at the back end of the IPL. He showed his class. The two hundred that he got is phenomenal. He is batting brilliantly and I am very sure he’ll have a good score.”

Here is how fans react to Dinesh Karthik’s weather update:
