‘Aur hum yaha Bangladesh se haar rahe hai’ – Fans react as England win ODI series against New Zealand by 3-1
At the home of cricket, England got the better of New Zealand and won the match by 100 runs. In the process, the home side won the series 3-1 against a good New Zealand side after losing the first ODI by a huge margin. For England, it is a perfect way to prepare for the ODI World Cup. New Zealand will have to think about a lot of factors after their loss to England in the series.
English captain Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to bat first. England lost the wicket of Jonny Bairstow early in their innings. But the duo of Dawid Malan and Joe Root revived the innings of England. Root was dismissed for 29 runs. But Malan continued the innings and played a big one. The Southpaw scored his fifth ODI hundred and helped England post a good total on the board.

The opener scored 127 runs in 114 balls, which included 14 fours and 3 sixes. Some crucial cameos towards the end from the likes of Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, David Willey, and Brydon Carse helped England to score 311 runs in their 50 overs. At the home of cricket, the target was a good one. For Zealand, Rachin Ravindra claimed 4 wickets, and Daryl Mitchell and Matt Henry claimed 2 wickets each.
Chasing 312, New Zealand did not have a great start. Devon Conway and Will Young lost their wickets in the Powerplay overs. With the progression of the innings, the visiting side continuously lost the wickets at regular intervals. Only Henry Nicholls and Rachin Ravindra fought hard for New Zealand. Nicholls scored 41 runs in 48 balls, which included 2 fours and a six.
Ravindra scored 61 runs in 48 balls and tried his best to win the match for his team. There was no support from the other end, which meant that the efforts of the youngster were in vain. Moeen Ali claimed a 4-wicket haul and helped England to win the match by 100 runs.
