‘Aur Karlo Clone se practice’ – Ravichandran Ashwin sends Steve Smith packing in both innings of 2nd BGT Test

India locked horns against Australia in the second test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. Australia scored  263 runs in the first innings. In reply, India fell short by 1 run. All thanks to the all-rounder Axar Patel who played a brilliant knock of 74 runs off 115 balls which included nine fours and three sixes. Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Steve Smith twice in the second Test match.

Australia while batting in the second innings, played 12 overs in the last session of Day 2, where they scored 61 runs with the loss of opener Usman Khawaja’s wicket. The left-hand batter was able to score only 6 runs off 13 balls with one boundary. His drought of runs in this series continues.

Kangaroos didn’t start well on Day three after building a good partnership of  32 runs before the wickets started to falter. The team got all-out just at the score of 113 runs and set a target of 115 for the hosts. Australia’s second wicket fell when the team score was 65 runs. And from then on the collapse started. Except for the two batters, no one was able to get into double figures.

Ravindra Jadeja’s seven gives India advantage

Left-hand batter Travis Head scored 43 runs off 46 balls which included six boundaries and a six while the other player who scored in double digits was the world number one batter, Marnus Lauschange who scored 35 runs off  50 balls which included five boundaries.

World number two batter Steve Smith got dismissed by veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the first innings as well as in the second innings. Steve Smith was able to open his account in their first innings and in the second innings, he scored only 9 runs off 19 balls which included a boundary.

For India, the spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin bundled out Australia for 113 runs. Where one side Jadeja took seven wickets on the other hand Ashwin took three wickets. The Chennai franchise all-rounder finished with the figures of 12.1-1-42-7 whereas on the other hand the 36-year-old finished with figures of 16-3-59-3.
