‘Another Heartbreak for us’ – Fans react as Australia beat India by 6 wickets in ODI World Cup 2023 final

The Australia cricket team becomes the new champions of the ODI World Cup 2023 as they beat hosts India by 6 wickets on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Notably, the Aussies will now be called six-time world champions as they easily trounced the Men in Blue in the final game with their exceptional performances.

Speaking about the game here, it was Australia skipper Pat Cummins who won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. Notably, after being sent to bat first, the Men in Blue had an awful start to the game. Shubman Gill failed to give a great start on his IPL home ground as he was dismissed for just 4 runs. Following him, Shreyas Iyer also got out for just four runs in the game.

However, Rohit Sharma scored 47 runs, which gave them a good start to the game. In addition, India’s batters Virat Kohli and KL Rahul also struck out half-centuries, which boosted their middle order in the game. Following them, no batter could contribute much, which allowed them to post just 240 runs with an all-out in 50 overs.

Team India also lost against Australia in the World Test Championship Final earlier this year

However, during the chase, Pat Cummins and Co. also had a bad start, as they were reduced to 47/3 in the powerplays. Following them, left-handed batter Travis Head struck out a magnificent century in the final game and sparked a great partnership with middle-order batter Marnus Labuschagne to make sure their side chased down the total very easily. Team India also lost against them in the World Test Championship Final earlier this year, and their wait to win the major trophy since 2013 continues.
