‘Baarish ne toh aaj izzat bacha li’ – Fans react as Asia Cup 2023 clash between Ind and Pakistan called off due to rain

After defeating Nepal by a huge margin of 238 runs, Pakistan locked horns with India in their second fixture of the 16th edition of the Asia Cup. However, the match was called off due to rain and the match resulted in a draw. The fans were able to witness only one innings of the much-awaited fixture. If we talk about the match, Men in Blue skipper, Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first.

India, while batting first was bundled out for 266 runs in the 48.5 overs they played in the first innings. The highest scorer for the side was their star all-rounder, Hardik Pandya who scored 87 runs off 90 balls with seven fours and a six in his innings. The wicketkeeper-batter, Ishan Kishan also scored crucial 82 runs from 81 balls which included nine fours and two sixes in his innings.

India’s top order fails to deliver

The India batters like Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Shubman Gill failed to deliver as they all were dismissed cheaply by the bowlers of Men in Green. Kohli was able to score only four runs off seven balls whereas on the other hand, Iyer was able to score only 14 runs off nine balls, which included two fours in his innings.

Gill played one of the slowest knocks of his career so far. He scored just 10 runs from 32 balls he faced in his innings, where he slammed only one four. After 29 overs, India has a score of 147 runs with the loss of four wickets. Ishan Kishan is batting on 54 runs and Hardik Pandya is batting on 37 runs.

For Men in Green, the pick of the bowler was Shaheen Afridi who snapped four wickets in his spell of 10 overs. The left-arm seamer conceded 35 runs and bowled two maiden overs in his spell. Three wickets each were grabbed by Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf in their respective spells where they conceded 36 runs and 58 runs respectively.
