‘Babar Azam is a class apart’ – Twitter hails Pakistan skipper for his Century against New Zealand

Pakistan captain, Babar Azam has been in sensational form this year in Test Cricket. On Monday, he notched his ninth Test hundred on day 1 of the ongoing first Test match. He was the highest run-getter for Pakistan and third highest, overall, in the recent Test series against England.

The Pakistan captain has begun the Test series against New Zealand on a great note. For the unversed, Pakistan and New Zealand are locking horns against each other in a two-match Test series. The first day of the first Test match at Karachi Cricket Ground is currently underway.

Babar Azam came to the crease when his team were in a spot of bother at 19 for 2. He hit two fours to set his intentions quite clear. Daryl Mitchell dropped Babar Azam’s catch at slips when he was just at 12. The Pakistan skipper gave no chance to New Zealand, thereafter, put in an assured batting display.

On numerous occasions, he rocked back into his crease and punched the ball off his backfoot for boundaries. Besides, the skipper was equally good on the front foot as well. He added 29 runs for the third wicket with Imam Ul Haq and 62 runs for the fourth wicket with Saud Shakeel.

Babar Azam also notched his 27th fifty in Test cricket. Babar Azam has scored the most runs by any batter in Test Cricket this year. In just 16 innings, he has managed to score 1105 runs at an average of 73 in Test Cricket.

The Pakistan skipper has also surpassed Mohammad Yusuf for scoring the most runs in a calendar year. Pakistan haven’t lost a single wicket since Lunch as Babar Azam and Sarfaraz Khan have added 114 runs for the 5th wicket partnership.

Before the Tea break, the hosts managed a score of 224/5 in 58 overs. The team skipper has scored 119 runs in 186 deliveries, while Ahmed has given him great support with his knock of 43 runs in 67 balls.
