‘Babar Azam training centre’ – Fans react to bizarre DRS by Tamim Iqbal in second ODI against England

After England smashed Bangladesh by 132 runs in the second One-Day International to establish a commanding 2-0 lead in the three-match series, Jason Roy scored an inspirational century. Roy hit 132 off 125 balls after being put in to bat, helping England post a competitive total of 326/7 in 50 overs.

In the second innings, Bangladesh didn’t seem to be able to immediately join the chase. After a dismal batting performance, they crumbled and lost the crucial second ODI by a huge margin of 132 runs.

What was the hilarious DRS call made by the Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal?

But, in the tail end of England’s innings, a fairly shocking event occurred. The Bangladeshi team made a lbw claim in the 48th over when Adil Rashid used his bat to stop Taskin Ahmed’s yorker. Tamim Iqbal took the review after a loud call by him and his fielders only to see the ball being clearly defended by the English batter.

Because of Curran’s 4-29 and Adil Rashid’s 4-45, England was able to dismiss Bangladesh for 194 runs in 44.4 overs. Roy had helped the team reach 326-7, the best ODI score in Dhaka in more than five years. The victory also made sure that England became the first team to triumph in an ODI series in Bangladesh in more than six years. The team previously triumphed in a series here in 2016.

With one encounter remaining in the series, the victory gave hosts England vital experience playing on spinning, low-bounce South Asian grounds before the 50-over World Cup in India later this year.

The final match of the three match ODI series is set to be played on Monday in Chittagong. The dead rubber is still crucial since it gives both the teams a chance to have match practice on tricky pitches and might be helpful before the World Cup at the end of the year
