‘Yeh kya haal hai bhaijan’ – Fans react as Babar Azam gets bowled by Pat Cummins for 1 run in 2nd Test vs Australia at MCG
Former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was dismissed for just one run in the first innings of the second Test at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on December 27. Notably, the top-order batter again failed to show his class in the ongoing Test match, putting his side in a difficult position. The 29-year-old cricketer wasn’t able to cover his innings well in the first Test as well, which made them lose in Perth.
Speaking about the game here, Pakistan skipper Shan Masood won the toss and invited the home side to bat first. Notably, after being sent to bat first, they had a decent start as star opening batters David Warner and Usman Khawaja went on to score 38 and 42 runs, respectively. In addition, Marnus Labuschagne also piled up 63 runs, which gave them a brilliant start at the end of Day 1.
However, Pakistan bounced back brilliantly on Day 2 of the second Test game as they restricted the hosts to 318 runs after dismissing Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and Steve Smith in quick succession. However, during the chase, Abdullah Shafique gave them a good start as he went on to post 62 runs. In addition, Shan Masood and Saud Shakeel are at the crease and will be looking to put his side in the dominant position.
Babar Azam has been the centre of controversy since his poor form and captaincy
Meanwhile, Babar Azam has been the centre of controversy since his poor form and captaincy. The Lahore-born cricketer failed to showcase his capabilities in the Asia Cup 2023, which keeps them out of the final. In addition, the Men in Green failed to enter the playoffs of the ODI World Cup 2023, which made him resign from his captaincy. However, despite that, the right-handed batter is struggling to get runs in all three formats.
