The host Zimbabwe have been performing tremendously in the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup qualifiers. The African side has been unbeaten in the ongoing tournament so far and are one of the strongest contenders to qualify for the upcoming ODI World Cup in India. They have emerged on top of group A and produced a big upset against the two-time champions West Indies.

There have been several tremendous performances by the players that helped Zimbabwe to perform better in the tournament. However, the one consistent player for the hosts is Sean Williams. The middle-order batter has been tremendous in the ongoing tournament and is currently the leading run-scorer of the tournament so far.

Williams has produced several match-winning knocks for Zimbabwe in the World Cup qualifiers. The 36-year-old has amassed 532 runs in just five matches, hitting three centuries at an unreal average of 133 and a strike rate of 148.60. He recently scored a hundred in just 81 balls in the ongoing Super-six match against Oman. Earlier, he hit a 70-ball Hundred against Nepal and a 65-ball Hundred against the United States.

He was also Zimbabwe’s main anchor in a mammoth win against the USA. The middle-order batter smashed 174 runs off just 101 balls as Zimbabwe posted their highest-ever ODI total: 408 for the loss of 6 wickets. In reply, the USA were bowled out for just 104 runs and Zimbabwe won the match by 304 runs.

Talking about the ongoing match against Oman, Williams again turned out to be a top scorer for the hosts as Zimbabwe posted 332 for 7 in their 50 overs. Williams got out after scoring 142 runs off 103 balls hitting 14 fours and three sixes. Batting first, Zimbabwe lost both their openers at the score of 48 runs in 13 overs. After that, Williams and Wesley Madhevere put up a 64-run partnership for the third wicket.

After Madhevere got out, Williams added 102 runs with Sikandar Raza for the fourth wicket. Raza lost his wicket in the 39th over after scoring 42 runs off 49 balls. Williams also got out in the 45th over at a score of 276 runs. For Oman, Fayyaz Butt ended up taking 4 wickets by conceding 79 runs in his 10 overs.
