‘Backbone of RCB since last year’- Fans all praise for Glenn Maxwell after his phenomenal game-changing knock of 77 off 44 balls

Royal Challengers Bangalore are, currently, taking on Rajasthan Royals in the 32nd match of the IPL 2023. Batting first, RCB didn’t get off to a great start as Trent Boult had Virat Kohli leg-before on the very first ball of the match.

The New Zealand left-arm seamer then accounted for the wicket of Shahbaz Ahmed (2) to leave RCB in trouble at 12 for 2. On a good batting track, RCB needed to post a good score but the start wasn’t ideal and a partnership was due.

Australian all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell then joined hands with Faf du Plessis and shifted the momentum in favour of RCB. Maxwell got going right from the onset on his innings. He took on Trent Boult, who was wreaking havoc with his pace and swing till that point. Maxwell smashed Trent Boult for a four on the very first ball he faced.

The Australian batter scored boundaries at great pace and helped RCB get the much needed momentum. Be it Boult, Ashwin, and Chahal, Maxwell didn’t spare anyone.

He reached his fifty in just 27 balls by hitting a six off Holder in the 10th over. With RCB reeling at 12 for 2, the Australian batter forged a stunning 127-run partnership for the third wicket. Du Plessis too played beautifully, notching another half-century of the season.

He got out after scoring 62 runs in 39 balls. Unfortunately, in the next over, Maxwell also departed but had provided a brilliant fightback. He played a sensational knock of 77 runs in just 44 balls at a strike rate of 174 with 6 fours and 4 sixes. At that stage, RCB had scored 156 runs in 15 overs.

However, after the departure of Australian batter, RCB couldn’t finish well as the middle order yet again couldn’t get going. In the end, RCB notch 189 runs in the first innings, giving Rajasthan a target of 190 to win the match. Meanwhile, here’s a look at fans reacted to Maxwell’s masterclass knock:
