‘Bechara Gambhir ab kisse chup karaega’ – Fans go berserk after RCB defended 126 runs against LSG to win by 18 runs

Royal Challengers Bangalore finally settled the scores with Lucknow Super Giants as they defeated them by 18 runs in a low-scoring thriller in match number 43 of IPL 2023 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Batting first, RCB only managed to score 126 for the loss of 9 wickets, but it turned out to be the winning total as they bowled out LSG for 108 runs in 19.5 overs.

Skipper Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli gave a steady start to RCB by adding 62 runs for the first wicket in nine overs. Kohli got stumped by the wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran while trying to take on Ravi Bishnoi. He got out after scoring 31 runs off 30 balls hitting three boundaries. A few overs later, Anuj Rawat also lost his wicket after scoring just 9 runs giving a catch to Kyle Mayers at deep mid-wicket on the delivery of Krishnappa Gowtham.

In the very next over, Bishnoi struck again to give RCB another blow as Glenn Maxwell got LBW out after he went for the reverse hit. Du Plessis was taking the innings further with wickets falling from the other end before rain decided to play a spoilsport in the 16th over. When the game continued after the rain, Du Plessis got out in the 17th over after scoring 44 off 40 balls with one four and a maximum. Naveen-ul-Haq took a couple of wickets in the last over as RCB were restricted under 130 runs. For LSG, Naveen took 3 wickets, while Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra shared 2-2 wickets and Krishnappa Gowtham put 1 in his bag.

LSG kept losing wickets while chasing a low total

Coming to defend a small total, Mohammed Siraj struck in the very first over for RCB by dismissing Kyle Mayers, who ended up giving a catch to Anuj Rawat on the second ball without any run on board. After that, LSG kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Gowtham turned out to be the highest scorer for LSG as he got out after scoring 23 runs off 13 balls with one-four and two sixes.

Skipper KL Rahul came as the last batter despite suffering a hamstring injury during the first innings. However, he couldn’t take his team down as they bowled out with one ball remaining to finish the game. For RCB, Karn Sharma and Josh Hazlewood scalped 2-2 wickets, while Glenn Maxwell, Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga shared a wicket each.
