Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar feels that the former Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar is one of the great batters who faced some of the world-class bowlers during his career. The cricketing legend has faced bowlers like Wasim Akram, Shane Warne, Akhtar himself and many other legendary bowlers, due to which, he has been able to cement his legacy and is known as the ‘God of Cricket.’

In his latest interview, Shoaib Akhtar said he feels sorry for Sachin as he squared off against some of the best bowlers in the world in their peak years and still managed to dominate them all. The 47-year-old said that Tendulkar found a way to score runs against Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath, and Shane Warne at their peak.

“I feel sorry for Sachin Tendulkar as he faced planet Earth’s most dangerous bowling attack. He came up against Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis in the early 90s. In the late 90s, Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne, and I were there in front of him. He slammed every bowler, including me. There can’t be any bigger batter than him,” Akhtar said as quoted by News18.

“He had to face so many difficulties but the way he came out and bat, this guy has to be one of the greatest ever,” he further added.

Tendulkar had an exceptional run in international cricket. After debuting at the age of 16, the former India batter has amassed 34,000 international runs overall, along with the record 100 centuries at the highest level. He has scored 18426 runs in 463 ODIs played for India at an average of 44.83 with 96 fifties and 49 centuries including a double ton.

In Tests, Tendulkar has played record 200 matches for India where he amassed 15921 runs at an average of 53.79 including 68 half-centuries and a record 51 hundred including six double tons. He retired after a 24-year-long career in 2013 at the age of 40 playing his last Test match against West Indies at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

While sachin is definitely the greatest batsman india has produced…I don’t agree with Shoaib… gavaskar faced much better bowlers in the 70s & 80s & in more hostile conditions when there was no restrictions on bowling bouncers & pitches were more bowler friendly.

Sachin also faced umpires like Steve Buckner,D Haer who gave him body before wicket several times…. without making any noise Sachin walked away… what a gentleman…my all time favourite.

He did smash akhtar in 2003 jburg match but else couldn’t deal akhtar honourably
