He entered on the field in the 15th over and continued to bat unbeaten till the very end, guiding all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in a thrilling run chase. For the CSK side, the pick of the bowlers was Akash Singh, Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja, who snapped two wickets each in their respective spells. Akash conceded 40 runs in his spell of four overs, Deshpande conceded 37 runs in his four overs, and Jadeja conceded 21 runs in his four overs.
While chasing a target of 176 runs, CSK fell short by three runs. The highest scorer for the Chennai side was Devon Conway, who scored 50 runs from 38 balls with six fours. Dhoni and Jadeja also contributed runs but that was not enough. Dhoni scored 32 runs off 17 balls with three sixes and a four and Jadeja scored 25 runs from 15 balls with two sixes and a four.
