‘Bhai samajh gaye Dhoni G.O.A.T hai’ – Fans react as Jio Cinema touches 2.2 Crore when MS Dhoni came to bat in IPL 2023 clash against Rajasthan Royals

One of the most recognized names in cricket, MS Dhoni has been retired from international cricket for almost two years, but he still has a special place in the hearts of his fans. This was demonstrated by another incident that took place during the 17th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, when MS Dhoni stepped out to bat during the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) chase against Rajasthan Royals (RR), and viewership of the IPL’s digital broadcaster JioCinema reached a record-breaking 2.2 crore.

In their second home game of the season, Chennai was in trouble after losing six wickets for just 113 runs, but Dhoni once more took charge of the CSK batting order and led a close run chase against RR. He entered on the field in the 15th over and continued to bat unbeaten till the very end, guiding all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in a thrilling run chase. JioCinema’s network had a massive 2.2 crore users at this time, who had downloaded the app to watch Dhoni’s innings live.

With one four, three maximums, and some incredible flexibility between the wickets, Dhoni scored 32 runs off only 17 deliveries, displaying flashes of his legendary form. His dependable partner Jadeja, who scored 25 runs off of 15 deliveries and was still flawless, provided him with valuable support which icluded one four and two sixes in his innings. Although Dhoni and Jadeja made it very close, Rajasthan ultimately prevailed by three runs, preventing CSK from winning.

Chennai Super Kings fell short by 3 runs

If we talk about the game, batting first, the Rajasthan side scored 175 runs for the loss of eight wickets after the completion of the first innings. The highest scorer for them was Jos Buttler, who scored 52 runs off 36 balls with three sixes and a four. India’s youngster Devdutt Paddikal scored 38 runs from 26 balls with five fours.

For the CSK side, the pick of the bowlers was Akash Singh, Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja, who snapped two wickets each in their respective spells. Akash conceded 40 runs in his spell of four overs, Deshpande conceded 37 runs in his four overs, and Jadeja conceded 21 runs in his four overs.

While chasing a target of 176 runs, CSK fell short by three runs. The highest scorer for the Chennai side was Devon Conway, who scored 50 runs from 38 balls with six fours. Dhoni and Jadeja also contributed runs but that was not enough. Dhoni scored 32 runs off 17 balls with three sixes and a four and Jadeja scored 25 runs from 15 balls with two sixes and a four.
