‘I’m expecting a very exciting series…..’ – Sri Lanka head coach Chris Silverwood opens up on T20I series vs Bangladesh
Sri Lanka head coach Chris Silverwood has recently opened up about his team’s tactics and skills ahead of the three matches of the T20I series against Bangladesh. Notably, the Sri Lanka cricket team will be facing Bangladesh for the first T20I game on March 4, which will be the biggest preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is slated to take place on June 1 in the West Indies and USA.
However, Chris Silverwood feels that their side has played extremely good cricket over the past few years, and they will have a great chance in the T20 World Cup 2024. The 48-year-old head coach believes in the team’s planning and playing their own brand of cricket, especially in the shortest format of the game.
“To be fair, we’ve played some very good T20 cricket leading into this, so I expect that to continue. I expect us to continue to grow our game plans, continue to develop as a team and as players, and keep working hard towards that. And ultimately playing our own brand of cricket going into the World Cup, you know what I mean?,” Chris Silverwood said being quoted by Cricbuzz.
There are some dangerous players on both sides: Chris Silverwood
Chris Silverwood says that their main focus is now on the T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to start in just three months. Moreover, the former bowler feels that the upcoming T20I series will be very exciting against Bangladesh, as few dangerous players are in the side.
“We’re now in the buildup to what is an important competition in the World Cup. I think all teams now are sort of finalizing their squads, give experience, so ultimately that’s what it is. We’re building up to a World Cup, and it’s great that we have such a good competition in front of us to do that, great series to do that in. I’m expecting a very exciting series. There are some dangerous players on both sides. So I think it’ll be good fun,” he added further.
