After losing the last fixture by 18 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) locked horns against four-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing IPL 2023 on May 3.

If we talk about the match being abandoned due to rain and one point each was given to the side. The spectators were able to witness only 19.2 overs of the LSG innings where they scored 125 runs with the loss of seven wickets. The highest scorer for the side was young Ayush Badoni who played an unbeaten knock of 59 runs from 33 balls which included four sixes and two fours in his innings.

However, behind the scenes, Naveen-ul-Haq, who had a verbal spat with Virat Kohli, met the Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni.

For the CSK, two wickets each were snapped by Moeen Ali, Matheesha Pathirana, and Maheesh Theekshana. Star India all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja grabbed one wicket as well in his spell of three overs where he conceded just 11 runs in his spell.

Before the start of the ongoing tournament, there were rumors surrounding Dhoni’s retirement from the game but during the time of the toss, he signaled that this is not his last edition of the IPL. Danny Morrison asked,” How you’re enjoying your last season?” “You’ve decided that it’s my last season, not me,” Dhoni replied with a laugh.

“We’ll bowl first. The fact that wicket was under covers and it looks a bit tacky, so we’ll look to bowl first. You have to see all conditions and venue. For us, Deepak (Chahar) is fit, so he comes in for Akash (Singh). Rest of the team is the same. (On whether he’s enjoying the support on a farewell) You’ve decided it is my last IPL, not me (smiles),” former India skipper was quoted as saying after winning the toss.
