‘CSK getting belt treatment from this young man’ – Fans react as Yashaswi Jaiswal hits another half-century for RR against CSK in IPL 2023

Rajasthan Royals (RR) opening batter Yashaswi Jaiswal continued his blistering form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, registering another half-century to his name against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Thursday, April 27. After opting to bat first, Jaiswal and Jos Buttler got the Royals off to a flying start, scoring 64 runs in the powerplay. The 21-year-old got dismissed for 77 runs in the 14th over, but set the stage for the hosts.

Jaiswal hammered three fours in the opening over against Akash Singh, showing his intent right away. The youngster did not let go of the left-arm pacer as he smashed 18 runs in his second over with three fours and a six. Buttler, who has yet to play a truly explosive innings this season, was a spectator on the other end, while the 21-year-old was having a great time in the middle.

Jaiswal’s aggressive innings kept RR’s run rate in check

The English batter struggled a bit to score runs but Jaiswal’s aggressive innings kept RR’s run rate in check. Pacers being hammered all over the park forced CSK skipper MS Dhoni to call in a spin attack, but it couldn’t stop Jaiswal’s momentum, as he notched up a brisk 26-ball 50 in the seventh over bowled by Ravindra Jadeja.

Jaiswal was impressive for RR last season as well. He has scored 304 runs in eight matches so far in this tournament and is currently fifth in the list of highest run-scorers. Today’s half-century was his third of the season, and there seems to be no stopping the youngster.

Coming back to the match, Jadeja gave a breakthrough in his second over, breaking the first wicket partnership by sending back Buttler. The duo put on an 86-run stand before the right-hander got out for 27 runs off 21 balls. Tushar Deshpande delivered a double strike in the 14th over, dismissing RR captain Sanju Samson on the first ball and Jaiswal on the fifth ball.

The CSK bowlers then staged a comeback, but in the end Dhruv Jurel (34 off 15) and Devdutt Padikkal’s (23 off 13) brilliant finishing ensured they post a competitive total of 202-5 in 20 overs.

Here’s how fans reacted to Jaiswal’s innings:
