‘It is hard to say what his motivation is……’ – David Warner finally opens up on his verbal spat with Mitchell Johnson

Australia’s star cricketer David Warner finally opens up on the controversy stirred by former Aussie star Mitchell Johnson. Notably, just a few days ago, Johnson criticised Australia selectors for picking up star cricketer David Warner for the Test series against Pakistan despite his poor form in the red ball of cricket. However, the left-handed batter finally broke his silence over the comments made by his former teammate.

David Warner accepted that the Test series against Pakistan would make headlines about him. In addition, the top-order batter reveals that he does not focus on such things and believes in working hard every day. The opening batter accepted that he was getting a lot of criticism ahead of the first Test slated to take place on December 14 in Perth.

“It would not be a summer of cricket without a headline. But moving forward, we are looking to a nice Test over in the west. I resonate with where I grew up. For me, it was a great upbringing with my parents, but it taught me every day to work hard. My parents ingrained that into me. When you get on to the world stage, you don’t realise what goes with that there is a lot of media. A lot of criticism,” David Warner said being quoted by Fox Cricket.

David Warner also reveals that Australian skipper Pat Cummins always protects him, no matter what the situation is. Moreover, the Delhi Capitals batter reveals that he does not understand why he has been trolled by Mitchell Johnson and what his motivation is if his name is there for the first Test match against the Green Army.

“I think we protect each other a lot. We have been through a lot over the years. Our boys, I’ve played alongside someone like Davey or Steve (Smith) for a dozen years now. (We are) fiercely protective of each other. It is hard to say (what Mitch’s motivation is). You have to ask Mitch,” he added further.
