‘The chit chat is just normal stuff……’ – David Warner opens up on his verbal spat with Shaheen Afridi during Pakistan vs Australia Test match

David Warner had recently opened up about his verbal spat with Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi during the first Test match in Perth. Notably, both star cricketers were seen exchanging words during the game. The left-handed batter had a great first inning as he went on to pile up an explosive 164 runs from 211 balls, featuring 16 boundaries and four sixes, which helped his side post a massive total of 487 runs in the first inning.

However, the left-arm pacer didn’t have a great innings, as he was just able to pick up one wicket from 27 overs in the first innings. Meanwhile, Pakistan could only manage 271 runs before getting an all-out. The hosts are currently at 84/2 in the second innings, and they are looking to outclass the Pakistan team in the first Test game, who are currently at the top of the WTC 2023-2025 cycle.

Meanwhile, David Warner revealed that he had planned to put pressure on the Pakistan’s bowler during his first inning. The left-handed batter revealed that they had just a normal chit chat and that nothing personal was meant to hurt anyone during the match.

“It’s been a long few months for Shaheen (Afridi) as well, he has bowled a lot in the World Cup. You’ve got to try to apply pressure to their senior bowler in the first Test match. The chit chat is just normal stuff – there’s nothing. He’s not trying to get under my skin or anything, it’s just normal banter,” David Warner said being quoted by NDTV Sports.
