‘Deepak Chahar ko bhi kuch sikha do Dhoni bhai’ – Fans react to Stephen Fleming confirming that MS Dhoni played through injury against RR

In their Indian Premier League 2023 encounter against Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings came close to pulling off a miraculous victory. Although MS Dhoni, the captain, remained unbeaten until the very end, the ‘Thala’ was unable to send the ball to the boundaries when he needed 5 runs to win the game. As a result, Rajasthan won by a score of 3 runs. Dhoni is reportedly recovering from a knee injury, according to CSK coach Stephen Fleming, who made the announcement following the game.

Particularly when facing spinners, Dhoni appeared to be in a flawless form as he delivered some of his signature sixes. With the assistance of one four and three sixes, Dhoni hit 32 off just 17 balls, forging an important alliance with Ravindra Jadeja, and scored 25 off 15 balls. Dhoni was able to knock two sixes in the final over he bowled against Sandeep Sharma, requiring 21 runs off the final 6 balls, but Sandeep came back to give his team a 3-run victory.

Regarding Dhoni, Fleming said that despite having a knee injury, the team captain still managed to perform some amazing feats in the middle. Stephen Fleming said, “He is nursing a knee injury, which you can see in some of his movements. It’s hindering him somewhat. His fitness has always been very professional. He comes a month before the tournament starts. He’s a great player. We have never doubted him. He’s just amazing.”

Although Dhoni’s injury has been confirmed, Fleming didn’t suggest that it might prevent Dhoni from participating in the forthcoming games for CSK. However, Fleming said that Chennai will also be without bowler Sisanda Magala for a few weeks.

Fleming then spoke about the intensity of the injury and how much impact it will have on the Chennai Super Kings. He said, “Magala’s hand was split, unfortunately, so he was unable to bowl those last two overs. And same with Deepak Chahar in the last game, so we’re operating on pretty thin resources. But we’re not the only team to have that. I think a lot of players coming out of a big domestic season are a little bit broken, but we just keep having to find solutions.”
