‘Dushmann banne dost’ – Fans react after a picture of Sanjay Manjrekar and Ravindra Jadeja goes viral

The verbal rivalry between Ravindra Jadeja and Sanjay Manjrekar began in 2019 when Manjrekar referred to Jadeja as a “bits and pieces” cricket player during the 50-over World Cup semifinal. During the commentary, Manjrekar stated that “I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players like Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner.”

Jadeja, who used Twitter to vent about the statement at the time, tweeted, “Still I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I’m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea.”

In a recent development, Jadeja was seen hugging and shaking hands with Manjrekar during the third Test between India and Australia at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Ravindra Jadeja was part of the team in Indore for the Test match, which Australia won by nine wickets to trail the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by 2-1.

How did the third Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy pan out?

Because of Nathan Lyon’s 11 wickets in the Test match, the third Test was finished in three days. Australia’s first-day successes were crucial in guiding the team to this triumph, and they will feel confident going into the series’ final Test, which will be played in Ahmedabad beginning on March 9.

During the third Test match as well, Jadeja’s decision-making was questioned by Manjrekar. As India failed to take advantage of their DRS calls against Australia on Day 1 of the third Test match at Indore, he made a controversial statement. As Australia, led by Matthew Kuhnemann’s bowling, dismissed India for just 109 runs, experienced Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja led the hosts’ stunning comeback by claiming four important wickets.

Although Jadeja was chosen as India’s best bowler, the superstar spinner also made a fatal error in the first innings. Sunil Gavaskar, a renowned cricketer, called out the veteran all-rounder after the spinner dismissed Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne, only to discover that the bowler had actually bowled a no-ball.

On the first day of the third test in Indore, Jadeja also provided two unsuccessful requests for reviews. These errors may have been a key reason for India’s loss in Indore in the third Test match.
