‘Either he has fought with someone or….’ – Harbhajan Singh slams selectors for not including Yuzvendra Chahal in India’s squad for ODI series against Australia

Team India is all set to lock horns with Australia for the three-match ODI series commencing on September 22 in host nation India ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, the recently announced squad has made the inclusion of five spinners, namely Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, Washington Sundar, and Ravindra Jadeja, whereas star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal didn’t get a nod to make himself in the squad.

Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, former India cricketer turned analyst Harbhajan Singh has expressed disappointment for not picking leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the team despite his magnificent performance on their home soil. The former off-spinner slammed the selectors by reiterating that the great bowler has fought with someone or said something to anyone, and this is the reason he wasn’t named. In addition, the well-renowned cricket commentator feels the RR bowler’s presence ought to be there if some players are rested in the series against Pat Cummins’s side.

Yuzvendra Chahal has fought with someone or said something: Harbhajan Singh

“Yuzvendra Chahal should have been here. He has not been given an opportunity. It is beyond my understanding. Either he has fought with someone or he has said something to someone, I don’t know. If we talk only about skill, his name should have been there in this team because a lot of Team India players are resting,” Harbhajan Singh said on his official YouTube channel.

Moreover, the 43-year-old cricketer says that the selectors have realized their mistakes for not picking any off-spinners in the squad. In addition, the 2011 World Cup-winning star feels Team India may be searching for off-spinners, as they have recently added Washington Sundar and Ravichandran Ashwin to the ODI World Cup team who were not part of it earlier.

“First Washington Sundar, who wasn’t in the original Asia Cup squad, was called there. After that, a second player has been added for this series and that is R Ashwin. So somewhere or the other Team India are searching for off-spinners. They have probably realized their mistake that they haven’t picked an off-spinner in the team,” he added further.
