‘England ab farigh team hai’ – Fans react as West Indies win ODI series at home for first time in 25 years against England
West Indies overcame England in the third ODI of the 3-match series by 4 wickets via DLS method. In the process, the home side recreated history as they won their first ODI series at home in more than 25 years against England. The win would give a lot of confidence to the West Indies, who have not won a single ODI series in the recent past. In fact, WI could not even qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023.
Against England, the Men in Maroon seemed to have returned to their self-best. There seemed to be a belief to win the series. In the third ODI, there was an interruption of rain. As a result, the match was reduced to 40 overs per side. Batting first, England managed to post a total of 206 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. For West Indies, Matthew Forde shined with the ball.
In his spell of 8 overs, Forde conceded only 29 runs and claimed 3 wickets. Forde dismissed the likes of Phil Salt, Will Jacks, and Zack Crawley. All the top-order batters were sent back to the pavilion by Forde. Harry Brook and Jos Buttler could not perform well either, as they were dismissed for a run and a duck respectively. England saw themselves at 49/5 at one stage.
Much needed series win for West Indies
From that stage, the duo of Ben Duckett and Liam Livingstone helped their side get to a respectable total. Duckett was the pick of the batters, who scored 71 runs in 73 balls. Livingstone scored 45 runs in 56 balls. With some contribution from the tailenders, England managed to score 206 runs. chasing it, West Indies lost the wicket of Brandon King early.
Despite the early hiccups, West Indies cruised towards the target, thanks to the knocks of Alick Athanaze, Keacy Carty, and Romario Shepherd. The trio helped WI to win the match by 4 wickets according to DLS method. WI won the first and third matches of the series to beat England 2-1.

A kind of redemption for them after missing out on qualifying for world cup. Cricket needs a a good, strong Windies team for the brand they play.
England on the other hand just can’t get things going. After a dismal world cup now lose the series here. They have lots of things to…— Anurag Rekhi (@Dravidict) December 10, 2023
