England face a big setback as Harry Brook to miss Test series against India due to personal reasons; Dan Lawrence confirmed as replacement
The Three Lions are coming to India from 25th January 2024 to play the 5-match Test series. In the upcoming 5-match Test series against India England faces a big setback as Harry Brook will miss the Test series. According to the statement released on Sunday by England and Wales Cricket Board Harry Brook has gone back to England with immediate effect.
Harry Brook’s replacement will shortly be announced by England. Also, the board confirmed that Harry Brook will not return to India. As England is ready to face their toughest challenges for the next two months, they will miss the services of Harry Brook.”The Brook family respectfully requests privacy during this time. In light of this, the ECB and the family kindly request the media and the public to respect their wish for privacy and refrain from intruding on their private space,” the ECB said.
A special training camp was set for England in UAE to get used to sub-continent conditions. Harry Brook also attained this camp. On Sunday 21st January Ben Stokes and Co. are set to arrive in Hyderabad to play the 1st Test game of the series. Whereas Indian squad have already arrived in Hyderabad on Saturday and started their preparation for the Test series.
Dan Lawrence is named as replacement for Harry Brooks
In this new era of the England Test team led by Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum Harry Brook has cemented himself as the strongest pillar in the squad. Harry Brook has played an important role in the Bazball concept. Due to his fearless approach, he has smashed 1181 runs in 12 Tests with an average of 62.14 and he has also 4 centuries under his name. Brooks got to know about the Indian condition during IPL 2023 which would help England to overcome India.
Harry Brook started international cricket with a solid performance against Pakistan. In just six Test matches Harry Brook scored 809 runs with an average of 80.90. Brook also scored the fastest 1000 runs in Test matches in just 1050. The previous record set by New Zealand batter Colin de Grandhomme took 1149 balls.
Lawrence has been named as a replacement for Harry Brook for the upcoming coming India tour. Dan Lawrence was part of the England team that toured India in 2021. He played two Test matches out of four. In the last Test game of the series at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, he scored 40 runs in 1st innings and scored a half-century in 2nd innings. England lost the last match by innings and 25 runs as well as they lost the series 1-3 to India.
Since making his debut in 2021 in Sri Lanka he has scored 551 runs with a strike rate of 53.86. He has four half-centuries and best score of 91 runs against West Indies in March 2022.
