‘The greatest T20I match’ – Fans react as England keep series alive with Phil Salt’s ton, Harry Brook’s last-over blitz in 3rd T20I vs WI

The England cricket team won the third T20I against the West Indies on December 17 at Grenada National Cricket Stadium. Notably, the Jos Buttler-led England side are still alive in the five matches of the T20I series despite losing the first two T20Is. The Windies won the first two T20Is and are still 2-1 against England, and they just need a win to seal the series. On the other hand, the visitors need to win both of their games to beat the home team.

Speaking about the game here, the England skipper won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. Notably, after being put to bat first, the West Indies posted a massive total of 222/6 in the given 20 overs. Star middle-order batter Nicholas Pooran hammered 82 runs from just 45 balls, featuring six boundaries and six fours to help them post the massive total.

However, in the chase, England had a great start as Phillip Salt hammered an unbeaten 109 runs from 56 balls, featuring four boundaries and nine sixes to help England chase down the total. Meanwhile, Harry Brook was the star of the game as he hammered 31 runs from just seven balls, including one boundary and four sixes to chase down the highest run chase.

Staying in a game bit longer is important, Great effort: Jos Buttler

Meanwhile, England skipper Jos Buttler expressed his happiness after his side won the must-win encounter to stay alive in the competition. The wicketkeeper batter heaps praise on Phil Salt and Harry Brook, who helped his side win the clash despite a massive total on the board.

“Great to keep the series alive. Hats off to Salt. Last game we talked about staying till the end. Credit to Salt. We tried a lot with the ball. Was a tough place for the spinners. The three-quarter balls were crucial. Salt has got such great intent. Staying in a game bit longer is important. Great effort,” Jos Buttler said in the post-match presentation.
