‘ Fear of Rohit and Virat’ – Fans react as Moeen Ali confirms his retirement from Test cricket and says he will not be a part of the India tour in early 2024

England star cricketer Moeen Ali confirmed his retirement from Test cricket after the end of the fifth Test of the Ashes 2023. Notably, the 36-year-old cricketer made a huge impact in the recently concluded Test series, as his side ended up levelling the series against a Pat Cummins-led side. According to the reports, the left-handed batter was questioned about whether he would be playing in a five-match Test series against India in early 2024, to which England all-rounder Moeen Ali stated no to Test head coach Brendon McCullum and English skipper Ben Stokes.

Moreover, on September 20, 2021, the Birmingham-born cricketer announced his retirement from Test cricket, but he eventually decided to make himself available only for the Ashes 2023 series. Furthermore, the star all-rounder has played 68 Test matches since making his debut on June 12, 2014, against Sri Lanka and has accumulated 3094 runs and picked up 204 wickets in his Test career. His best bowling figure is 6/53.

It’s nice to finish like this and be part of an amazing day: Moeen Ali

Speaking on the same subject, Moeen Ali affirmed that there is no way for him to go to India and that he is done with Test cricket, and it feels nice to finish like this.

“They knew from the start. Especially when those India venues came out! Baz asked me again when I had my day off on the second day. I said no. I’m not going [to India]. There’s no way I’m going. That’s me done. It’s nice to finish like this and be part of an amazing day,” Moeen said, being quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

The great cricketer further added that it was the best decision to play the Ashes; otherwise, he would have regretted it later.

“Test cricket is the best cricket. I wish I could rewind time. Although my career has been a bit up and down, I wouldn’t change it. I’ve loved it. I would have regretted it later in life. It was quite daunting, because I’ve never done well against Australia,” he added further
